ASİS UK: 25 Years of Audit Experience Under One Independent Roof
From the Middle East to Europe, we are consolidating the audit memory built up across 50+ international projects under a single independent roof. The story of why and how we founded ASİS UK.
The value of an inspection and surveillance body is measured not by the number of accreditations it holds, but by the decision-making experience accumulated in the field. Accreditation is essential, but ultimately just a door pass. What truly matters is, when you step through that door and face a technical problem, which engineer will take charge, and which inspector has solved a similar case in the past.
ASİS UK is the transformation, into a single independent organisation, of the memory built by a team that has managed quality assurance, non-destructive testing, surveillance, and certification processes in more than 50 large-scale international projects across the Middle East, Europe, Central Asia, and Africa over the last 25 years.
Why "independent"?
The most common source of conflict in the inspection and surveillance sector is the certificates and reports issued by bodies that are part of the same chain as the client. Joint shareholding with the contractor company, taking services from the main contractor, having the surveillance service financed by the vendor — all of these cast doubt on the impartiality of the certification process.
ASİS UK was deliberately designed to have no economic ties with any field contractor, original manufacturer, or construction firm. Our shareholding structure and revenue sources rest on a single principle: the buyer of the surveillance service must be different from the party being surveilled.
What are we trying to do differently?
1. Digital ecosystem. Each of our certificates is produced with a serial number, a QR code, and a structure that third parties can verify through our certificate verification page. After an inspection, the customer does not have to pick up the phone to answer the question, "is this certificate really valid?".
2. 24/7 access. We provide our customers with their own username and password. Past reports, certificates, and inspection calendars are accessible through the portal. No paper, nothing lost.
3. Inspectors from the field. Most of our technical staff spent the earlier parts of their careers on the contractor / manufacturer side. This allows us, during an inspection, to distinguish practices that look "compliant on paper but unsustainable in the field".
What are we planning for the years ahead?
Over the next 3 years, our goal is to expand our accredited service scope with sector-specific standards (AS EN 9100, IATF 16949, EN 15085, PED 2014/68/EU), while at the same time making certification access more widely available, particularly at the SME scale, with affordable pricing.
This page will fill out over time; it will be made up of real cases, lessons learned after inspections, and sector analyses. We intend to keep it as a living archive.
